Johann Gottlieb Naumann (1741–1801) was one of the most popular musicians of the late 18th century, not only in his hometown of Dresden, but also in Europe's musical capitals.

Soprano Marie Luise Werneburg and harpsichordist, organist, and fortepiano player Sebastian Knebel are considered experts in historically informed performance practice and are internationally sought-after performers.

In addition to his large-scale works for the stage and church, Johann Gottlieb Naumann achieved extraordinary recognition throughout his life as a composer of lieder. His intimate and sensitive lieder are the focus of the concert. Piano works by various contemporaries will also be performed.
