Kirill Petrenko and the Berlin Philharmonic

Love's pain meets exuberance – our New Year's Eve program is an emotional rollercoaster. Benjamin Bernheim, one of the leading lyric tenors thanks to his velvety voice, revels in the love anguish of famous opera heroes.

Don José from Bizet's Carmen, Lensky from Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, Massenet's Werther, and Gounod's Romeo. The tragic story of Romeo and Juliet is also told in Tchaikovsky's fantasy overture of the same name.

With exhilarating music by Bizet, Chabrier, and Gershwin, Kirill Petrenko and the Berlin Philharmonic also transport the audience to the sun: to the South of France, Spain, and Cuba.
