Fiesta de Día de Muertos
Inspired by Diego Rivera’s monumental mural Sueño de una tarde dominical en la Alameda Central (Dream of a Sunday Afternoon in the Alameda Central), Death – in the guise of an elegant lady (La Catrina) – strolls through the Humboldt Forum and encounters characters from all walks of life across Mexican history.
Created in 1947, the mural is considered the birth of the iconic figure of La Catrina, originally conceived by illustrator José Guadalupe Posada, which achieved international fame through Rivera’s work.
