Forms of Negotiation

The collective Kotti-Shop/SuperFuture run an art and project space on the ground floor of the Neues Kreuzberger Zentrum at Kottbusser Tor. Here Julia Brunner and Stefan Endewardt have established an artistic practice that works closely together with the neighbours.

It centres on designing the urban environment and hanging out together. Projects include planning playgrounds as a community task, collage-based meetings over coffee and big installations for outdoor space.

At the Berlinische Galerie Kotti-Shop/SuperFuture will illustrate how they go about their work. The much-vaunted goal of “urban planning in dialogue” has so often become an empty phrase, but this practice aims for much more, valuing the many different voices that make up a neighbourhood, understanding public space as a common asset to be protected and encouraging community-based processes of negotiation and design.

The big installation in the Berlinische Galerie will demonstrate collective art production and the conditions that frame it. And it will offer visitors a chance to enjoy the art of hanging out.

Kotti-Shop/SuperFuture will run events and workshops to accompany the exhibition.
