
Work, replicas and restoration (Open Monument Day 2025)
"The Missing House" by Christian Boltanski marks a vacant lot on Große Hamburger Straße, where a house was destroyed in World War II. Twenty-four plaques commemorate the building's former residents.
The newly restored, listed work is part of the "Infinite Exhibition" at Hamburger Bahnhof – National Gallery of Contemporary Art.
Art historian Dr. Sarah Alberti in conversation with restorer Iris Winkelmeyer about the work, replicas, and restoration.
