Citizen Science Workshop

As part of the art-science installation  of BLOOMS, this citizen science workshop invites participants to explore field samples from Berlin waterways to study the phytoplankton community that exist in these water bodies.

Through microscopy, participants will explore algae identification and understand more about toxic cosmopolitan plankton species that are blooming in eutrophic lakes and seas.

BLOOMS is an art-science installation that attentively listens to the phenomena of algal blooms and the shifting relationships they signal between human activity  and aquatic ecosystems, asking: What are peopkle not hearing?

A project commissioned by the EU S+T+ARTS Artist Residency ReSilence.
