Spielende Insel
To mark the 150th anniversary of Maurice Ravel's birth, this chamber music evening is dedicated to French music around 1900, with a special focus on Spanish influences. Works by Ravel, de Falla, Debussy and Boulanger showcase the stylistic diversity and emotional depth of an era in which national sounds and impressionistic colours merged.
At the heart of the programme is Ravel's Trio for piano, violin and cello, complemented by other chamber music works by his contemporaries.
Programme:
- Manuel de Falla: Suite populaire espagnole
- Nadia Boulanger: Trois pièces
- Claude Debussy: Sonata for violin and piano in G minor
- Maurice Ravel: Rapsodie espagnole (piano four hands)
- Maurice Ravel: Piano Trio in A minor
Performers:
- Jiyoon Lee (violin)
- Andrei Ioniță (cello)
- Naoko Sonoda & Catalin Serban (piano)
