Alexander Scheer sings David Bowie
When David Bowie went on tour, he always traveled with his mobile library. It held up to 1,500 books. Literature was a never-ending source of inspiration for the pop star. In addition to classics such as Dante Alighieri's "Inferno," many novels, such as those by Christa Wolf and Alfred Döblin, also play a central role in his work.
Alexander Scheer, who has repeatedly filled theater stages and movie screens with major roles, is going on a literary and musical search for traces with his band. The Berliner Ensemble is the right place for this Bowie homage because:
David Bowie not only lived in Berlin-Schöneberg between 1976 and 1978 - he was also a theatergoer and spectator at the Berliner Ensemble.
"Heroes" is a reading and concert, a tribute to the city of Berlin, which has been shaped by upheaval, its echo in world literature and the great songs that David Bowie gave to the whole world.
