With Choy Ka Fai and Mo’ong Santoso Pribadi (Workshop)
This workshop invites children and adults to get to know and try out making Indonesian Gamelan music. By creating rhythms with everyday objects, a common sound is created.
During this workshop participants make use of kitchen items such as pots, spoons, glasses and cutting boards, objects such as stones, leaves, and branches, and recycled items such as tins, plastic bottles, and cardboard.
In Gamelan music, every player has an important role, and every sound, no matter what it is produced with, contributes to a collective harmony. Gamelan sees music as a form of communication, where the aim is to listen to each other, empathize and create a musical ‘conversation’.
