Project with readings, films, guided tours, literature salon Potsdamer Straße
Rarely has a story had such an impact. ‘Peter Schlemihl's Miraculous Story’ from 1813, about the man without a shadow, the bag of luck, the invisibility cloak and the seven-league boots, anticipates the life story of its author, Adelbert von Chamisso.
The migrant from France became a naturalist, world traveller and poet. With a Russian expedition in search of the Northwest Passage, he sailed around the world for three years from 1815, botanising, collecting and writing.
After his return, he worked in the Royal Botanical Garden, today Heinrich von Kleist Park in Schöneberg.
Chamisso lived from 1781 to 1838. His life was romantic and modern.
