Young international participants present renowned works of cello literature.
Tatiana Vassiljeva was born in Novosibirsk, Russia, and began studying the cello at the age of six. After winning second prize at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich in 1994, she moved there to study at the University of Music and Performing Arts with Walter Nothas. Upon graduating with honors, Tatjana Vassiljeva continued her studies at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin with David Geringas.
The musical phenomenon that is Tatjana Vassiljeva is characterized by flawless technique and an incredible richness of tone. Her unique virtuosity is surpassed only by her musical personality and the ideas she expresses so beautifully. Her innate musical curiosity is reflected in her wide-ranging repertoire, which spans from Baroque to contemporary music and includes several world premieres. Tatjana Vassiljeva began her European concert career at the age of twelve.
Since 2014, Tatjana Vassiljeva has been principal cellist of the Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, and since 2023, she has been a professor at the Karlsruhe University of Music.
