Federal President's Citizens' Festival | Open Palace Day

On Saturday, 13 September, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will open the doors of Bellevue Palace and transform the palace grounds into a colourful stage for volunteer work.

Over 50 organisations, initiatives and companies will present their work under the motto ‘A matter of honour – I'm in.’ and look forward to talking with you.


A top-class programme awaits you on several stages, including music, dance, sports, readings and panel discussions. Prominent personalities will be discussing various topics with the Federal President and his wife Elke Büdenbender, among others. There will also be plenty for children to experience.

This year's partner country is Portugal, and the partner federal state is Rhineland-Palatinate – both will contribute culinary and cultural highlights to the festival.

‘Taste the Tasca’ – three of Portugal's most exciting female chefs bring modern tasca culture to Berlin. Visitors can discover Portuguese specialities, chat with the chefs and experience the diversity of the regions.
