Father & Son is a long-term series about the relationship between father and son, captured in double exposures with a Pouva Start camera.
The relationship between parents and children is permeated by complex feelings and memories, often contradictory, ambiguous, and changeable in retrospect. It is precisely these ambiguities, overlaps, and tensions that are reflected in the almost dreamlike photographs.
For twenty years, I have been documenting the growing closeness between my father and me, despite the constant age difference between us. I am becoming more and more like my father, not only in appearance. This growing closeness, this togetherness and conflict, the constant negotiation of proximity and distance, is expressed in the photos.
Originally, the photos were the reason, but over the years, the time we spent together has come to the fore. Ultimately, the photos are conversations about life and death, the natural end of the series, turned into images.
