The organ in the French Church in Berlin, built by Hermann Eule (Bautzen), was inaugurated on 15 September 1985. Exactly 40 years later, the French Church at Gendarmenmarkt is hosting an anniversary celebration with a festive concert and lecture.
The disposition and construction principles of this unique organ are based on French Baroque organ building and are unique in the context of the GDR. In addition to the otherwise wide-ranging organ music, French organ literature has also been given special attention in the organ music and concerts under the aegis of church music director (KMD) Kilian Nauhaus for almost 40 years.
For decades, these concerts have been attended by many friends of organ music from Berlin and beyond.
Programme for the 40th organ anniversary on Monday, 15 September 2025:
7 p.m.: Short lecture on the organ by master organ builder Christoph Kumpe (Bautzen)
8:00 p.m.: Gala concert with the Choralschola of the French Church in Berlin and church music director Kilian Nauhaus (conductor and organ). Works by Johann Sebastian Bach, François Couperin, Charles-Marie Widor and others.
Reception to follow.
- Admission is free. Donations are requested.
