Out and about with Futurium at the allotment garden colony “Märchenland”

Amidst the concrete of the big city, allotment gardens and balconies are green oases. But in recent years, climate change has also had an impact here. At the Future Day at the Märchenland allotment garden complex, they want to find out how Berliners can garden sustainably in the future.

Strawberries, tomatoes, and fragrant lavender: Small gardens not only serve as a place for relaxation and self-sufficiency, but also bring a touch of nature into everyday life. But climate change is also making itself felt here: drought, persistent heat, and milder winters are changing soils, growth, and cultivation periods. People must adapt to these changes.

At the Future Day at the Märchenland allotment garden complex, everyone will join experts from research and practice to explore the latest findings on gardening in the region.

They want to find out what strategies we need in Berlin and Brandenburg in the future. How can people protect the soil while achieving good harvests? And can small gardens even improve the urban climate?
