Due sopra il Basso
In the musical setting of Arcadia, Cupid and Bacchus meet to enjoy the abundance of paradisiacal gifts and the power of their passions. Between love affairs, sensual temptation, and the dark side of excess, a dramatic arc unfolds—it remains to be seen whether it ends in melancholy or a frenzied celebration.
The ensemble Due sopra il Basso presents an early Baroque program with works from France, Italy, and Spain. At the center is the interplay between sweet pleasure and bitter realization—musically complex and emotionally charged.
Works by:
Frescobaldi, Kapsperger, Strozzi, Bartolotti, Merula, Monteverdi, Corbetta, Sanz, d'Ambruis, Lambert, de la Garde, Rameau, Moulinié, Attaingnant
Performers:
- Johannes Wieners – countertenor
- Jonathan Boudevin – baritone
