Film series "Shared Histories – Collaboration in Ethnographic Film"
Friedrich Dalsheim‘s fourth and final film tells the story of two young lovers from rival villages, interwoven with footage of the daily lives of the Indigenous Dayak and the nomadic Punan, the latter agreeing to appear on camera for the first time.
Due to his Jewish heritage, Dalsheim‘s name has been removed from the film credits from 1936 until the 2024 new restoration of Deutsche Kinemathek.
