Concerts & Performances

How is artificial intelligence transforming musical composition? Where do the limits of collaboration between humans and machines lie? Will the singular quality of human creativity continue to exist in the future? These and other questions are the focus of ‘Composer in the Loop,’ a full-day event organised by Musikfonds.

‘Composer in the Loop’ provides insights into AI-supported composition processes. As part of the Musikfonds’ scholarship programme, ten musicians spend an entire year exploring the opportunities and risks of AI-based composition. Focus is placed upon individual artistic positions that offer creative alternatives to the largely uncontrollable spread of corporate AI.

Through brief live performances and installations, artistic strategies are to be presented that explore new ways of navigating AI in music while reflecting on the far-reaching social implications of AI technology.

Special emphasis will be placed on open-source tools that underscore the independent, experimental spirit of the scholarship recipients.
