
Long Night of the Sciences
It starts with the name: Is it Catalan, Valencian, or Mallorcan? Or doesn't everyone speak Spanish anyway? And how do people respond to "bon dia" when it comes from someone they don't expect?
This evening, in dialogue with the audience, museum guests will analyze language usage in Catalan-speaking countries and the everyday reality of language policy.
Prof. Dr. Carsten Sinner has been a university professor of Ibero-Romance Linguistics and Translation Studies at the Institute for Applied Linguistics and Translatology at the University of Leipzig since May 2008.
Juliana Canet is a successful influencer and co-founder of Canal Malaia, an independent influencer platform in Catalan, which won the 2020 Pompeu Fabra Prize for Communication and New Technologies.
When she's not sharing stories from her own life or commenting on (pop) culture, she presents new literary releases or Catalan-language classics in collaboration with an independent library in Barcelona.
The event, in cooperation with the Representation of the Government of Catalonia in Germany, is moderated by author and Catalan translator Michael Ebmeyer.
