Theater Thikwa & GRIPS Theater
In BOOM, CRACK, BOING!, the Thikwa Theater and the GRIPS Theater embark on a musical and image-rich exploration of human coexistence.
Between not wanting to get up in the morning and not wanting to go to bed in the evening, what actually happens and who decides? Is someone too fidgety? Is doing too much nonsense? Is they stepping out of step too much?
With these questions in mind and plenty of noise and boing behind them, the Bumm Ensemble creates a brightly colored kaleidoscope of places, characters and sounds. Sometimes in the big city, sometimes in the bedroom, sometimes in the llama stable.
But above all, it's always while making noise together:
The players discover instruments from the bass to the piano, from the rattle banana to the synthesizer. And once this band starts playing, one thing is crystal clear: that it "booms and boings and crashes / And immediately puts you in a good mood!".
In this ensemble production, the diverse group approaches everyday scenarios and, playing with humor and imagination, finds small glimpses of major challenges, as if by the way. And of course a lot of nonsense.
Inclusion as a matter of course: How does a cultural institution implement this?
What does this mean in concrete terms for everyday work in the theater? The GRIPS Theater and the Thikwa Theater will be exploring these questions together and on an equal footing over the next three years.
THIKWA and GRIPS want to help ensure that artists with disabilities are more strongly and better represented in artistic productions, both as creators and as performers. This should lead to a natural visibility beyond the specifics of inclusive theater.
In their collaboration, social, artistic and political aspects are equally important to them. Artists and employees of non-inclusive art production institutions should not only open themselves up to working together in an inclusive framework, but also qualify for it.
As the climax of their joint work, THIKWA and GRIPS are presenting a production for children.
