In the midst of the cold season, the Symphony No. 4 brings musical warmth – thanks to two passionate and virtuoso concert fantasias for violin: Maria Solozobova shines as the soloist in Camille Saint-Saëns' Introduction et Rondo capriccioso and in Pablo de Sarasate's fiery Carmen Fantasy.
Afterwards, things become classical and light: Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 surprises with its then-unusual use of clarinets and continues to enchant with its cheerful charm – just like Beethoven's rarely performed, radiant Fourth Symphony.
