On 7 September 2025, the Kunstfabrik Schlot will once again host ‘BERLIN JATZZT’ – the jazz revue initiated by saxophonist Jörg Miegel combines a concert with an accompanying exhibition featuring numerous collector's items from the early days of Berlin jazz.
This time, the interview partner is Eva Dorman, a jazz fan since 1945 who has seen and heard a lot. A loyal concertgoer at the ‘Jazz Spinnern’, she may also share some interesting stories from her life, especially regarding the GDR. Another special guest is the artist/painter Silke Thal, who will accompany the evening with ‘live painting’.
‘Berlin jatzzt’ is a tribute to jazz and its musicians from the post-war period to around 1970. Saxophonist and flutist Jörg Miegel (64), now himself a veteran of the Berlin jazz scene, has put together a band called ‘Berlin Calling’ to serve as the common thread running through the revue, playing original compositions by Berlin legends such as Johannes Rediske, Helmut Brandt, Manfred Burzlaff and Michael Naura – but also pieces by musicians who enriched the jazz scene there during their stay in Berlin.
The programme is accompanied by readings, image projections, audio recordings and an exhibition of historical jazz magazines, posters, records, programmes and much more.
The exhibition has found a permanent home at Schlot, whose owner, John Kunkeler, has supported the series for many years.
