African Street Games

Here are just a few highlights:

Right-Left or Yellow-Red or One-Two – A fast-paced game of listening and jumping! Players line up and quickly react to the instructor's commands (like “left” or “right”). Those who jump the wrong way are out. It's all about speed, focus, and quick decisions.

Diali – A challenging marble and brick game of precision and skill. Played individually, it’s all about hitting the target through a small gap and making it to the final round.

Tumatu/Katolo – A one-foot hopping game over chalk-drawn squares. Players aim to master the grid, claim “houses,” and challenge others to leap past their territory.

Meropa – A high-energy drumming circle using plastic buckets and sticks. It’s all about rhythm, teamwork, and sometimes dancing too!

Mataere – Tyre-based fun where players push, roll, ride, or even spin inside old car tyres. Imagination is the limit!

Wire Cars – Using wire and tins, kids build and "drive" their own mini cars, creating imaginary roads, races, and roleplay with traffic and emergency services.

These games are not just about fun—they build creativity, care, coordination, and community. Gather some friends and get playing!
