Anniversary Exhibition 1985–2025
You are warmly invited to the anniversary exhibition and upcoming vernissage at FOTOGALERIE Friedrichshain.
Since 1985, FOTOGALERIE Friedrichshain has been located in the Plattenbau at the S-Bahn station Warschauer Straße, making it the oldest gallery dedicated to photography in Berlin. The gallery celebrates its 40th anniversary with a major group exhibition that connects its history with contemporary perspectives.
As a journey through time, the exhibition features an exclusive juxtaposition of images from East Berlin in the mid-1980s by Gerd Danigel and photographs from Brooklyn, New York by Meryl Meisler, also taken in the mid-1980s.
In a current context, we present, among other works, a selection from the REFRAME Namibia project, complemented by a new series by project initiator Julia Runge titled Shadows of the Past. The occasion is the 25th anniversary of Berlin's only city partnership on the African continent—with Windhoek, the capital of Namibia.
