The International Kids Tour Berlin is a flagship project for international children's and youth cycling. Since 1993, the International Kids Tour Berlin has been the world's oldest multi-day tour for young cyclists in the U13 and U15 age groups. As the only stage race for children in Europe, it offers young cycling talents from over 15 nations a unique sporting and social experience – entirely in the spirit of ‘FAIR GEHT VOR’ (fairness comes first).
The aim of the tour is more than just sporting competition: international understanding, fair play, equal opportunities, environmental awareness and integration are values that are lived and breathed at this traditional event. Launched in response to xenophobic attacks, the tour continues to stand for encounter and respect across cultural boundaries.
A sporting highlight for the whole family
The tour comprises four stages, including a festive prologue at the Brandenburg Gate, a tour of Marzahn-Hellersdorf and the grand finale at Kurfürstendamm / Breitscheidplatz.Children start in licensed teams, accompanied by professional race organisers, medical services, support vehicles, timekeeping and award ceremonies – just like the big leagues.
Particularly noteworthy is the separate girls' race – the only one of its kind in Europe in this age group.
Accompanying programme & hands-on activities
- Fat Tyre Children's Race (final day)
During the last stage on the Ku'damm, Berlin children without a racing licence can also take part in the “Fat Tyre Race” on a marked circuit. Every participant receives a medal. - bike-fit academy
As part of the supporting programme, specially trained ‘bike coaches’ teach Berlin primary school children how to ride a bike safely – a contribution to road safety education and physical activity in the city. In 2025, over 500 children will take part in Marzahn-Hellersdorf alone. - Family zone & children's activity area
At Breitscheidplatz, visitors can enjoy a small ‘sports participation park’ with a coding station, a skills course, a cycling quiz, a stage and a chill-out zone. - Inclusive participation & accessibility
IKT is committed to barrier-free access for spectators and participants, a live stream, multilingual information and cooperates with inclusive sports projects. - Commitment & volunteering
More than 300 volunteers will be supporting the event. The spirit of volunteering has been part of the DNA of this tour since 1993 and is an expression of Berlin's active civil society.
