Starting in the late 19th century, an industrial landscape emerged along the banks of the Spree, supplying the metropolis of Berlin with energy. Power plants, storage facilities, production sites, workers’ housing, and extensive railways bear witness to this industrial heritage. Now, art, culture, and gastronomy have brought new energy to this historic waterway.
