Gianmarco Ammirata
Ammirata’s artistic work is closely linked to his architectural practice, in which the line plays a central role. He views drawing as an exploratory process in which an independent visual language emerges—reduced to elementary graphic means that transcend the purely representational.
The works on display move between abstraction and structure. Spaces, surfaces, and patterns make the relationship between mind and body tangible. In the process, traces of presence emerge that converge in a fundamental gesture: the line. In its reduction, it opens up new spaces of perception and invites a quiet, concentrated engagement.
The exhibition opens on April 30 with a vernissage and concludes on May 23 with a finissage. An artist talk will take place as early as May 2, during which the artist will unfold his artistic practice on site in the gallery.
During the exhibition period, the gallery will transform into a space for experimental practice on Saturday afternoons: Together with James Etherington (composer) and Mehdi Hesamizadeh (composer and sound artist), four live music installations will be created in which music and drawing enter into an open dialogue—different artistic languages that interpenetrate and expand one another.
The exhibition concludes on Saturday, May 23, with the presentation of the book of the same name. Together with Martin Ortega (German lecturer and playwright), the exhibition ends with a personal contribution and a reflection on the book.
