Public exhibition accompaniment

The permanent exhibition at the Tränenpalast, the former departure hall at the Friedrichstraße border crossing, uses biographical examples and original artifacts to illustrate how the division of Germany affected people’s lives.

Accompanied by a guide, you will explore the most important themes and historical traces: How did people from the GDR manage to escape or leave for the West? What experiences did travelers from East and West have during check-in at the Tränenpalast? What memories do you personally associate with this historic site?

Registration takes place before the tour begins at the information desk in the exhibition.
