Schönhauser Allee Arcaden to become a showcase for EXPO 2035 in Berlin

A new information exhibition has been opened in the Schönhauser Allee Arcaden to support Berlin's bid for EXPO 2035. The information project, which was realised in collaboration with the Global Goals Berlin association, consists of several steles in the centre providing information about the Expo and the idea of a sustainable Berlin.

Visitors are invited to learn about the vision of a city-wide world exhibition and to express their support for Berlin's transformation into a 21st-century metropolis. The exhibition is designed as a long-term project and is now permanently available to visitors to the Arcaden.

Imagine a Berlin that in 2035 is not only the host but also the exhibit of a world exhibition – a city that proves that ecological renewal and economic success can go hand in hand. At the Schönhauser Allee Arcaden, this journey into the future begins today. Between daily shopping and strolling through the neighbourhood, visions become tangible, showing how courage and passion can create a liveable city for everyone. It is an attempt to transform Berlin and make it a model for the metropolis of the 21st century.

The initiative for this special form of urban design comes from the Global Goals Berlin association, a civil society initiative that aims to make Berlin sustainable, fair and future-proof by 2035. The 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are now presented on steles in the heart of Schönhauser Allee, serve as a compass.

These steles are not only intended to inform, but also to stimulate social discourse: How do we want to live? How can we achieve climate neutrality without losing social cohesion?

For the association, the planned EXPO 2035 is much more than just a showcase. It is intended to be an experience in real locations that shows what is possible when science, business, culture and citizens pull together. The focus is on a surge of innovation in all products and services in order to position Berlin as a global model for sustainable transformation.
