The photo exhibition “Love Letter to Donbas” by Ukrainian photographer Serhii Korovayny presents a selection of photographs from his recent bilingual photo book “Donbas – A Land of Hell and Love” (Ukrainian edition) and “Love Letter to Donbas” (English edition).

The exhibition focuses on the people of eastern Ukraine – a region marked by war and, in some areas, Russian occupation since 2014. Korovayny’s work reveals how violence, destruction, and insecurity impact the lives of the civilian population – while simultaneously telling stories of dignity, resilience, and everyday life under a state of emergency.

About Serhii Korovayny: For more than ten years, Serhii Korovayny has been documenting the war in his home region of Donbas. He is considered one of the most important visual chroniclers of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.

His photographs show not only the traces of destruction but also the enduring life, the changing landscapes, and the fates of the people. He regularly contributes to international media outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, the Financial Times, The Guardian, TIME, Reuters, Der Spiegel, DIE ZEIT, and NZZ.

The exhibition will subsequently be on display for one month as part of the free public exhibition of the European Parliament and the European Commission at Pariser Platz in Berlin.
