Media Esfarjani and Nina Bruchhaus explore the concepts of home and tradition in their exhibition. Using both abstract and figurative techniques, they humorously and critically examine the factors that shape the contemporary understanding of home within a pluralistic society.
Migration and educational background play a particularly important role – and just as the boundaries between home and homeland, tradition and nationalism, are at risk of blurring when it comes to preserving cultural traditions and values, the boundaries between figuration and abstraction within the works themselves are also increasingly dissolving.
