Audiowalk + Talk

and let no one be forgotten! is an immersive audio walk by Berlin artists Hannah Alongi, Jeremy Knowles and Katya Romanova. The focus is on the so-called ‘Russian houses’ in Berlin-Karlshorst.

In their immersive audio walk, artists Hannah Alongi, Jeremy Knowles and Katya Romanova tell the eventful history of the so-called ‘Russian houses’ in Berlin-Karlshorst.

These buildings, which have been vacant since 1994, became a symbol of a complex past after the withdrawal of Soviet troops. The audio walk combines memories, personal perspectives and historical insights to shed light on the legacy of these places.

The tour takes you to various stops, beginning at the bakery at the Karlshorst S-Bahn station with a conversation about childhood memories and everyday life in the GDR. On the way to Odesaplatz, you will learn more about the history of the ‘Russian houses’ and the Soviet presence, the former restricted area, and the relationships between the local population and the Soviet residents. You will explore empty houses, encounter invasive raccoons and ponder what the future might hold for these buildings.

Join us on one of the walks through Karlshorst – followed by a feedback session and discussion with the artists (languages: German & English). Details & registration: https://alnobf.de/program
