To the special exhibition "Lygia Clark. Retrospective"
Tunnel, 1968 - Two people move from different sides through a narrow, flexible fabric tunnel 50 meters long. They have to crawl past each other to reach the exit on the other side.
This creates a constricting feeling and evokes associations with a birth canal. If the participants feel too suffocated by the fabric, Clark cuts holes in the cloth through which they can breathe. This allows the people in the tunnel to receive help from the outside - a process that Clark also associates with childbirth.
Life structures, 1966 - This net made of rubber bands is activated by a group. Several participants place their hands and feet, or their entire body, in the net at different points and move around the room. Every movement made by one person has an effect on all the others. Everyone is connected and the group feels like a collective body.
