THE FILM
BLAME is a visually stunning cinematic journey exploring the role of science in increasingly dark times. The film objectively illustrates how the world is being thrown into disarray by the deliberate stoking and manipulation of fears and fact-free myths. Thanks to exclusive access to the three protagonists, the audience gains insights into their perspectives, challenges, and feelings.- A film by Christian Frei

SYNOPSIS:
When they warned of future pandemics, they were ignored. Now, as the world is struck by the COVID-19 pandemic, these same scientists must not only fight the virus but also a wave of misinformation, conspiracy theories, and political blame that threatens to obscure the truth. After years of immersing themselves in remote bat caves, three researchers are thrust into the harsh glare of politics and face serious accusations. The once-ignored warners must now answer for their warnings. This is their story.
BLAME also shows how the pandemic and the deliberate cultivation of fact-free myths and narratives contributed, among other things, to Donald Trump's re-election as US president—and why far-right movements are also gaining ground across Europe. The film responds to the often speculative and sensationalist discussions surrounding the origins of COVID-19 with a fact-based narrative. A bold, political film and a visually stunning cinematic journey.
BLAME celebrated its world premiere as the opening film at Visions du Réel – Festival international de Nyon 2025 and is a winner of the DocEdge Festival New Zealand.
“Visually intense and urgent. A powerful defense of science. Striking, bold, and essential viewing.” THE OBSERVER
“In a world where nothing is true, everything becomes possible—BLAME shows why that matters.” Variety
