UdK student exhibition, response to Kazuko Miyamoto - String Constructions
As part of a collaboration between the Berlin University of the Arts and KW, a group of students engaged with the work and methodology of Kazuko Miyamoto.
During the course of a seminar, they undertook excursions into the forest in Brandenburg to gather branches, which they used to construct rope-and-wood bridges now installed in the institution’s courtyard. The project draws inspiration from Miyamoto’s site-specific works originally created for Bryant Park and Rivington Street in New York between 1982 and 1983.
Connecting over Bridges is an exhibition held over one week in KW’s Mediation Room. It presents the works of the students, developed through their engagement with Miyamoto’s work, the collaborative process and further material explorations.
