Mate Cocido interprets Latin American music with a repertoire that includes a wide range of rhythms and musical genres from Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay.
The ensemble combines styles such as jazz, folk and classical music, interacting with improvised passages and special arrangements of the repertoire. The result is a blend of popular music and a modern academic approach, without losing the character and original feeling of Latin American folklore.
The diversity of composers in the repertoire – including Hermeto Pascoal, Egberto Gismonti, Astor Piazzolla and Julián Aguirre – as well as the group’s own arrangements and original compositions, turns the music into a true emotional journey. The group is led by Juan Pablo Moyano, an Argentine pianist, composer and music educator. Mate Cocido performs as a trio.
