Farewell Concert for Jan Czajkowski - He was a truly exceptional artist, a smart person, a very supportive colleague – and we all miss him dearly! Jan Czajkowski was a musician without pathos, a piano-player whose arrangements were straightforward but sophisticated and yet intrinsically serene.

Those who knew him will remember his unshakeable calm, his wit, his curious mind and the powerful gift of bringing musical genius to the theatre stage.
Jan Czajkowski made his mark as a musician in many productions—at the Volksbühne, the Sophiensäle, the Burgtheater; collaborating with David Marton, Christoph Marthaler, Johan Simons, and Frank Castorf, among many others. He passed away on September 8, 2025, following a long period of illness—yet he remained unflinching, courageous, and curious to the very end.
They would like to dedicate this evening to him. Musicians, friends, and companions will join us in commemorating a great individual who brought humour and depth to music and the theatre stage.
