Cut & Compose – Collage and Composition

In this workshop, we use collage as a tool to understand the central principles of image design – balance, rhythm, contrast, focus.

You will work with papers, textures, colours and shapes – and intuitively find your own approach to composition. Through targeted exercises, you will learn how to make an image ‘work’ – without any prior knowledge. A mini-input on composition theory (e.g. golden ratio, eye guidance) frames the workshop, but the focus is on doing: cutting, gluing, pushing, marvelling.


Who is it for? Adults and young people aged 16 and over, no prior knowledge necessary!

Materials: Some materials will be provided – feel free to bring old magazines, paper, etc. and a pair of scissors!

Cost: Eur 50 (Eur 90 if you book both workshops on 22 November and 23 November Lines, Shapes & Colours – From Collage to Painting)
