Kamelia Tavitian

Moth tells the story of the encounter between humankind and art. This ultimately always leads to an encounter with oneself. It all begins with a grand "AS IF." A world is opened up in which anything can happen, a world in which magic also has its place, a world reminiscent of reality, yet following a different logic.

The setting is a military garrison in the middle of nowhere, on the edge of the permafrost. Here, an event suddenly disrupts everyday life. Inexplicably, a soldier transforms into a woman overnight to refuse military service. Thus, the woman and the colonel meet and secretly begin rehearsing Othello – which causes the colonel to question his entire life.

The German premiere of the play Moth by Pyotr Gladilin will be presented.

The text was translated from Russian into German by Michael Leetz.
