MANUFAKTUR CARING

by & with Miriam Taschler and Carla Petzolt

about enduring and fighting back

about being FLINTA and being many and no longer wanting to be limited

losing your head

losing your mind

not being able to do it anymore

not wanting to do it anymore

about being loud when they really just want to see a nice smile

against powerlessness

fighting back resisting.

Manufaktur Caring examines power and powerlessness from a queer-feminist perspective, based on the experiences of a multigenerational, international FLINTA* team. The focus is on the often invisible (care) work that FLINTA* people do in addition to their mostly low-paid gainful employment—an expression of structural inequality. Stigmatized as “emotional” or “caring,” they are forced into dependent roles. Breaking out of this system is fraught with conflict. The title refers to this tension between external control and care.

THIS IS NOT AN ACCIDENT

by & with Cilai Herrmann

A solo. A river. A body in motion. Gender fluidity and water justice Cilai dances through socially drawn lines – between nature and culture, between “male” and “female,” between riverbed and river straightening. The Rhine becomes a character, singing, speaking, flowing. Cilai dances with it, against it, through it. A letter, a song, a string of lights. Water drips, sounds, asks back.

“This is not an accident” is a poetic-political dance piece about control and resistance, about fluid bodies and the violence of binary structures. Drag meets movement, autofiction meets installation, voice becomes body becomes river.
