With 24HKW, the Haus der Kulturen der Welt is opening up a performative space that deliberately eludes predictability for 24 hours. As part of the ‘Die Möglichkeit der Unvernunft’ (The Possibility of Irrationality) takeover, a dense, seemingly uncurated programme will unfold in the Miriam Makeba Auditorium.

Each of the eight three-hour slots will feature different artists, theorists and performers, with no prior announcement of the content. Audience members choose a time slot, not a format.

This open dramaturgical structure is intended as a commentary on current expectations in art and the public sphere. With contributions from Jasna Fritzi Bauer, Anna Dushime, Louis Klamroth, Missy Magazine, Mark Waschke, Xhem, and other guests, 24HKW challenges common patterns of reception. The event questions common patterns of reception, hierarchies of visibility, and the need for immediate classification.

The result is a space for the unfinished, the ephemeral, and the contradictory, as well as for collective experiences that exist outside of established temporal logics.
