journey into the heart of music

April 1945. Shortly before the end of the war, an 80-year-old composer completed his most personal work: a meditation on the incessant transformation of existence—and at the same time a deeply felt farewell to a perishing world.

METAMORPHOSES unites 23 individual string parts in a densely woven chant. In the unique atmosphere of Zion Church, we explore the work's genesis, follow the threads of the music together, and then bring them together in a complete performance.
