This fairy tale season, the Hexenberg Ensemble has added a new production, ‘The Ugly Duckling,’ to its repertoire, which will be performed today in combination with ‘The Golden Goose.’

The Ugly Duckling

‘The Ugly Duckling’ by Hans Christian Andersen is a radical call to celebrate one's own uniqueness and find the courage to be oneself.

Directed by long-time ensemble member Michael Schwager, the Hexenberg Ensemble opens its 18th fairy tale season at the Glaspalast with this adaptation.

The Golden Goose

The first human chain in history. A lad travels through half the fairy-tale kingdom with his wondrous golden goose under his arm, and people stick to him and follow him in single file. Is that funny? And will the good-for-nothing make the king's sad daughter laugh and marry her in the end? Plenty of good material for a farce in the style of Hexenkessel. Entering the grim ring are Vlad Chiriac as the king, who does not want to give his daughter away to a stranger, and veteran Carsta Zimmermann in various roles, who will teach the king a lesson with her motherly wit.
