
Trombonists of the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and the Staatskapelle Halle
The trombone quartet OPUS 4 was founded in 1994 by the ensemble's director, Jörg Richter, principal trombonist of the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig since 1984 and a lecturer at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Academy of Music there.
The concert program ranges from Monteverdi, Schütz, and J.S. Bach to Bruckner, Mendelssohn, and Gershwin, thus spanning the Renaissance and Baroque periods, through the Romantic era, to jazz and contemporary music.
