Concert by the Zafraan Ensemble

As part of the opening weekend of the "VOICES BERLIN FESTIVAL," the renowned Zafraan Ensemble invites you to a diverse concert evening at the Radialsystem.

Under the title "Independent Voices," the ensemble presents four world premieres – with works by composers Leonid Desyatnikov, Michaela Catranis, Mansoor Hosseini, and Samir Odeh-Tamimi.

The program focuses on artistic voices that have emerged from diverse cultural contexts and have thus each developed a unique musical language. A language that combines elements of different musical traditions and tells how fascinating sound worlds and new forms of expression can emerge from transitions, ruptures, and contrasts.

The composers presented by the Zafraan Ensemble weave traces of their cultural origins into musical landscapes and build bridges between traditions. The result is works that make audible stories that are rarely told, yet are part of our shared inner world.
