Performance

A sculpture in the Mamorsaal stands protected by piles of sandbags, a part of the everyday scenery in numerous theatres of war. The sculpture has been paralyzed in its actions for a long time, its consciousness tries to understand the incomprehensible happening all around it.

It talks to the busts and pictures nearby, about the terrible reality that has come into its world as a result of the war, with all the shredded bodies, desperate lives, destroyed societies. It wants to avert its eyes to what is happening right in front of it and confronts the speechless relics of history which have turned into stones and pictures – which are supposed to embody collective values and order – with the destruction of shared structures of meaning.
