Interactive project for body and sound in architectural niches with audience participation
In ALKOVEN, the audience is invited to enter architectural niches in order to experience them with their own bodies and voices.
- Ulrike Brand, music
- Ingo Reulecke, movement
- Elisa Kostka and Katharina Resch, animation
‘Alcove’ means not only ‘sleeping place’, but also ‘tent’, “recess” and ‘cave’.
A place of community and isolation, but also a free space for dreaming...
“We venture into the niches of the citadel. Bodies produce sounds and react to the unique acoustics of the ‘alcove’. Is it possible to physically experience a space through the voice?”
At the beginning and end of the event, cellist Ulrike Brand and dancer Ingo Reulecke sensitise the audience's perception with a joint performance.
Together with Ulrike Brand and Elisa Kostka, participants build a toolbox of simple vocal sounds. We take our joint improvisations to the ALCOVES of the citadel, where Ingo Reulecke and Katharina Resch guide the group in filling niches together or presenting them as a group sculpture.
