A portrait of Berlin by Adolf Trotz – the rediscovery of a lost classic. THE CITY OF MILLIONS is a colorful picture book of Berlin.

The first feature-length city portrait in German film history bursts with friendly local patriotism and utilizes every means and trick of the medium to emphasize its message: Come and see the peaceful, modern, hectic, bustling, and cheerfully cozy German capital, its past and present. It even offers a look ahead to the year 2000.

The film is an unjustly forgotten and valuable document of a metropolis that would not exist in this form for much longer. It reflects the spirit of life and the reawakening of German self-confidence after war and inflation. Beyond that, THE CITY OF MILLIONS is astonishing cinematic fun without any pretensions to art, but with a great joy in experimentation.

The film will be accompanied live on the piano by silent film pianist Anna Vavilkina. In cooperation with the association Running Pictures e.V. and Metropolis Orchestra Berlin
