oder vom Versuch, widerspenstig zu werden

Is identity ever truly complete, or does true freedom lie in embracing the unfinished? In the tragicomedy „Mariannes großes Debüt“, the autofictional trans character Marianne dreams of a glamorous performance as a female icon in the spotlight. However, the audience arrives too early and encounters Marianne not in the glamour of perfection, but in a state of vulnerability and insecurity.

Paul Furtwängler's solo debut delves into the longings and complex entanglements of queer identity. The piece challenges binary gender norms, celebrates human vulnerability, and highlights the beauty of imperfection.
