Three virtuosos – cellist and conductor David Geringas, piano soloist Petras Geniušas, and violinist Dalia Kuznecovaite – founded the Grand Trio Vilnius in 2021.
Grand Trio Vilnius, which has existed for decades, is complemented by the long-standing presence of a leading Lithuanian clarinetist: Algirdas Budrys, along with David Geringas and Petras Geniušas, was a member of the trio.
A central element of the ensemble is modernity and, in particular, the dissemination of contemporary Lithuanian music. Frequent programs include works by Bronius Kutavičius, Anatolijus Šenderovas, and Faustas Latenas.
Another focus is on rarities in the piano trio repertoire. Grand Trio Vilnius recently recorded both of Brahms's string sextets, arranged for piano trio by Theodor Kirchner.
New additions to the repertoire include Schoenberg's Verklärte Nacht, arranged for piano trio by Eduard Steuermann, as well as two world premieres.
Program:
- In celebration of the 80th birthday of Anatolijus Šenderovas (1945-2019)
- Anatolijus Šenderovas - Lamento from the music to the film "Ghetto" for solo cello
- Jean Sibelius - Piano Trio in C major "Lovisa"
- Anatolijus Šenderovas - Piano Trio No. 3 Introduction, Song and Dance
- Johannes Brahms - Piano Trio in G major
